Engraving Some Giants

This is a first for me- engraving Atlantic Giant pumpkins!
My friend Lisa Abeloe has a pumpkin patch down in Los
Alamos where it gets nice and hot (the giants like that).
She invited me to come down and try my hand at
engraving some of  these big pumpkins.  When they
are mature the smaller ones may weigh in at 30 pounds
or so but the larger ones might top 100 pounds.  I
learned to keep the size of my design appropriate to
the size of the pumpkin.  You don't want to end up
with a tiny little word on an enormous pumpkin.

It is hard to tell in the photo, but this pumpkin is already
the size of a beach ball, and still growing.

This giant will be going to the Three Speckled Hens
Antique Show up at the Paso Robles Fair Grounds.
Show dates are October 5th and 6th and I will be there
with a booth selling engraved pumpkins of all sizes!
